Well done to everyone from Hillsborough BGC who took part in last weeks BGCSY inter-club Indoor Sports Tournament, it was a great day full of fun and some surprise results!!  Particular congratulations to Roisin and Liam who picked up 3 trophies between them which will be awarded at our Presentaion Night in January.

Last week was BGCSY's Junior residential, I went up with a small (but select!!) group of young people from Hillsborough BGC, who soon bonded with those present from other clubs and left me .  We had cracking weather and did climbing, mountain biking, go karting, as well as hanging out at the beach and a classic water fight in a local river!!  We all had a great time, check out the photos in the gallery, and I for one am looking forward to the next trip away where I hope to see a few more representing Hillsborough.

Before the Easter Weekend young people from HBGC took part in another Activity Week.

Mountain Biking, Climbing and Free Running were all well attended and our young people excelled in all 3, it was particularly good to see the Free Running session which was new to the activity calender this year and seemed to be a great success.

A special well done to our small, but dedicated team who completed the Club Challenge, we finished second but actually won more events than any other team and raised valuable funds, as well as awareness for the youth club.

Finally Thank You to those who completed the Sponsored Walk, I think next year we will try and find a better time/day so more people can attend, and I will try and find a way to better promote it.  Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

Last week we took part in another successful Boys & Girls Club South Yorkshire activity week, with Skiing, Sledding & Climbing at the Snow Park, Lazer Quest and ice Skating.

All 3 days were brilliantly attended by HBGC so well done and a massive thank you to everyone involved.

Congratulations to Jude who got his name on the leaderboard for the Climbing wall at the Snow Park, and a special thank you to Nathan & Liam, our peer mentors from seniors who made my life a lot easier by volunteering and helping us out, especially Nathan who kept us all entertained by falling over on the ice!!

Last night was Boys & Girls Clubs South Yorkshire's (BGCSY) annual Presentation Night, and it was a great night for Hillsborough Boys & Girls Club.

Joe and Harvey, along with Cameron (not present) collected medals for their involvement in the winning football team at this years tournament.

Well done to Nathan and Harvey who were nominated for the Young Volunteer and Inspiring Young Person awards respectively.  Keep up the good work.

The club also won 2 awards;

The Environmental Award - This was in recognition of the work we have done in the last year developing our somewhat limited outdoor space into a well used garden, with space to sit and hold barbeques, aswell as our allotment area where we have grown vegetables to use in our cooking sessions.

The Trophy for Participation - This acknowledges the efforts made by everyone involved in the club over the last 2 years, raising our involvement in BGCSY's activities and trips from 0 when I started working here, to filling our allocation of places (and more sometimes) for virtually every trip.  

Congratulations and a massive thanks to everyone involved in supporting the club and making these awards possible.

Congratulations to our Football Team, who long with a little help from Double 6 Youth Club retained the Boys & Girls Clubs South Yorkshire Football Trophy on Tuesday.
